Dr. K.C. Kasliwal

Dr. Kewal Chand Kasliwal, born into the famous philanthropic Kasliwal family of Jaipur decided to become a doctor after one of his brothers passed away due to illness at a very young age. Dr. K.C. Kasliwal completed his MBBS from the prestigious Agra Medical College in the year 1955. He then went to England and joined the institute of Laryngology and Otology and worked as a house surgeon at the Royal National throat, nose and ear hospital. He was granted the Diploma in Laryngology and Otology by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in the year 1957. He returned to India and joined the esteemed Willingdon Hospital, New Delhi (now Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital) as Head of Department of ENT in the year 1960. He completed his Master of Surgery in Otorhinolaryngology from King George Medical College, University of Lucknow in 1966.

Dr K.C. Kasliwal always wanted to serve the people of his city and in order to do so he resigned from his post in the year 1974 and came back to Jaipur and started Dr. K.C. Kasliwal’s Ear, Nose and Throat centre which is now synonymous with the field of ENT all over Rajasthan. Dr. Kasliwal was a leading surgeon of his times and was known for his good nature and ethical practice.

In the early 1970s, Dr. K. C. Kasliwal along with the great philanthropist Mr. Khel Shankar Durlabhji who had established Santokba Durlabhji Memorial Hospital (SDMH) started the E.N.T. Department of the hospital.

He published many papers during his tenure in Delhi as well as in Jaipur and was a surgeon par excellence. 

A man with dreams needs a woman with vision. It is rightly said that behind every successful man there is a strong and supporting woman. 

Mrs. Ratna Prabha Kasliwal was one of the founding pillars of this centre. Daughter of renowned educationist, Late Mr. Tej Karan Dandia and Mrs. Suraj Devi Dandia, was taught since childhood the importance of good education in life. A time when very few women in the city got primary education, she completed her schooling from Padmavati Pathshala, Jaipur. She then went on to get a degree in Bachelor of Arts from Maharani College, University of Rajasthan.

The journey just did not stop there, in the year 1972 she equipped herself with a course in speech therapy from Govt. Lady Noyce School for deaf and dumb, New Delhi and became the FIRST female speech therapist in the state of Rajasthan. She was known for her kind heart and pure soul both in personal as well as professional life. A female par excellence, she imbibed the same importance of education and values of life in her three children.

Dr. Neeraj Kasliwal, a renowned ENT surgeon of Rajasthan, known for his excellent clinical skills & reputation, adopted his fathers’ good nature and ethical practices in the field of Otolaryngology and extrapolated the practice to what it is today.

He is one of the pioneers of Coblation Surgery, Sleep Apnea Surgery and Cochlear Implant Surgery in the state of Rajasthan.

To his credits are the establishment of the departments of ENT in most of the well-known hospitals in Jaipur, Rajasthan like Monilek hospital, Fortis hospital and Eternal hospital.

Dr. Neeraj Kasliwal in a limited span of time, very responsibly took forward his fathers’ establishment ‘Dr. K.C. Kasliwal’s Ear, Nose & Throat Centre’ to the pinnacle. With an experience of more than 35 years, he is still deeply rooted in the care and welfare of his patients. 

He is known to adopt and adapt his clinical and surgical skills with the changing times for the benefit of his patients. He was one of the first surgeon to use Coblation for Adenoidectomy, Tonsillectomy and Sleep Apnea Surgery in the country. He also performed one of the first navigation assisted Balloon Sinuplasty in the country as well as Eustachian Tuboplasty in the state of Rajasthan. He started and established the Cochlear Implant Programme in his state and has now performed about 100 cochlear implantations successfully.

Under his guidance the centre has acquired all the state of the art equipment available in ENT practice today like CO2 Laser, Nim neuro monitor, Navigation system, Coblation, Microdebrider and Radiofrequency. He has attended numerous workshops and conferences and has learnt and subsequently, mastered the technique of ENT surgery from the best centres across the world. 

He has also focused on the diagnostic aspect of the diseases by establishing one of the finest audiology centres in the city as well as starting vertigo clinic with Videonystagmography and equipping with narrow band imaging for early diagnosis of laryngeal cancers.

Dr. Neeraj Kasliwal has dedicated his life for the welfare of his patients and it is rightly said that “wherever the art of medicine is loved, there is also a love for humanity” - Hippocrates.

His sons, Dr. Anirudh Kasliwal and Dr. Ashwath Kasliwal, have imbibed the same values of dedicated patient care and ethical practice.
